News Feed - April 2015 (Page 3)
Post #12, Apr 26,2015 by Stiig, VE3LBX
Hello everyone, we are now just a few days away from our first training
sessions in southwestern Ontario. My apologies to those that received 1
or 2 copies of this message on Saturday. I attempted to do the mass
emailing remotely from home and it only sent off the first set of emails
and then crashed. This version sent out Monday morning should reach all
of the intended audience.
RSVPs for the two training sessions to be held at the Windsor-Essex
Health Unit on April 21 can be done through the Eventbrite website
below. RSVPs for the Sarnia training can again be sent to Bill Hoad.
A new training session has been added in Oakville at
7 PM on June 2nd, the location details can be found below.
The northwestern Ontario training schedule is now out. Training will
take place from June 15 to June 18 in Thunder Bay, Fort Frances, Kenora
and Dryden. Lakehead Region Conservation Authority is supporting the
training this year in Thunder Bay by offering there multi-purpose room
for the event. I still need to nail down the venues for Fort Frances and
Dryden and that information will be included in the next training
notification in the next couple of weeks. The Red Cross in Kenora is
again supporting the training.
There has also been a venue change for the CANWARN session in New
Liskeard on May 27. It will now take place at the College Boreal located
at 280 Armstrong St North.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in the southwest in the coming week
and at the other venues in the weeks to come.

Post #13, Apr 27, 2015 - Nepal Earthquake Nets by Jim VA3AUC
ARRL reports that emergency nets have been running around the clock on 20
meters (14.205 and/or 14.215 MHz), to assist the Nepal earthquake efforts.
The 20 M band was open Sunday night, and I heard a VU (India) station on the
14.205 net standing by for traffic, and the 14.215 MHz net organizing relief
logistics and giving directions for hams wishing to send radios into India
for hand delivery to Nepal.
Amateur Radio DX.com also has reported activity on 7.100, 18.160 and 21.360
MHz.
Post #14, Apr 28,2015 - Meeting held on 27 April 2015 by Roger, VE3ZI
I am pleased to say that we (just) had a quorum last night and were able to pass two amendments to the constitution:
(1) That the number of fully paid up members present at a properly constituted meeting shall be deemed to be a quorum;
(2) That the accounts shall be presented to the membership by the Treasurer at the Annual General Meeting.
An additional change was proposed by Al Fraser and seconded by Ken McIlveen:
"That a properly constituted meeting shall comprise three or more fully paid up members."
This proposal met with general approval by the members present, and will be formally voted on at the next meeting which will be held on Monday 25 May.

Post #15, Apr 28,2015 - May Meeting by Roger, VE3ZI
I am pleased to announce that we can use a meeting room at the South End Library in Sudbury for our meetings. We can only book for up to three months in advance, but there doesn't seem to be the same pressure as at the Main Branch. I have so far booked for 25th May and 29th June. I will be able to book July on the 1st of May.
The room is free , but if we use their projector or 'smartboard' there would be a $15 charge.
If anybody has objections to this could they please contact me very soon, as if we are to move I need to let the Laughing Buddha know.

Indian Hams have set up stations in Nepal and are forwarding message
from Nepal to India-based stations.
